Well we have been busier this week than a one-legged man in a butt kicking competition !

New sites, content updates, sorting through banner competition entries (thanks to all those who submitted) and a bunch of other stuff has kept our shoulders to the grindstone.

Now, due to a late rush of some large numbers submitted in the BANNER COMPETITION, we have had no chance of putting the whole thing together to release results - this will happen in next week's edition.  Please accept our sincerest apologies for that delay, and see below for more information.

BANNER COMPETITION WINNER AND PAYOUTS NEXT WEEK

WE APOLOGIZE !!  OK, we know you were all sitting there with baited breath waiting for the results of our inaugural banner competition to be announced.  We had a late rush of a couple of large entries which has meant to do the thing justice, we decided not to rush it, to give everything we received proper consideration, and publish full results next week.  Therefore, in next week's edition we will announce the winner AND the final results of all submissions, including who will get paid for what!  There will be links so each of you can see what was submitted and what we accepted and what we didn't.  As promised, links to these results (and ALL submissions) will also be posted on various Webmaster Boards.  If you wish for your submissions and results to remain anonymous, please email toyboy@curiouscash.com and let him know and your wishes will of course be respected.  Submissions and results will still be published (in the spirit of our policy of open and honest operations), just your name and email contact will not.  Again, apologies for the delay!

TIPS ON GETTING YOUR GALLERY LISTED

This article is an extrapolation of a thread on the Netpond Webmasters Board - the key contributors to this post where Ghost_of_Winter, RedDevil and Panky - thanks to Netpond and them for some excellent insights !

Many of you depend on TGP galleries and successful submitting to make a living.  Here is a list of some of the key things that can help you build your success rate in getting listed on TGP sites.  While this is NOT a complete one it does provide a stable foundation to build on.

1.  READ THE RULES!!!  Make sure you read the rules of each TGP you submit to.  Many people don't and NEVER assume that TGP site rules are always the same.

2.  Don't use ANY type of javascript or PHP scripting on a TGP page. This will get your pages rejected at more than not.  This includes counters, some of which of the big ones have recently been banned by some of the largest TGP's on the web.  Find a non-java or non-php counter if you need one.

3.  Don't use ANY banned words.  We are talking here about anything talking about underage models. SOME places have gone as far as banning the use of the words 'free, bitch, whore, playboy" etc.  Again, check the individual rules of sites you submit to.

4.  Wherever possible, use pictures in a series. If the pictures are all of the same scene you can build a page that looks smoother and easier on the eyes.

5.  Make your thumbs a bit larger than you would for a freesite. But how big?  Well that is up to YOU to decide, but you don't want to make them TOO big. The idea is give the surfer a chance to see what is going on without clicking on the big picture.  Saves you bandwidth as well - it is better to a surfer click on thumbs at 3 or 4K and have 20 of them than to have them click on 10 pics that are 40K each.

6.  Have some sort of system for your galleries.  Separate them by date, by sponsor, by content, by whatever is easiest for you, but have a system and be organized.  This helps with tracking so you can see what galleries are working best.

7.  Find a niche that works for you and go with it. If you do pages focussing on sites and/or content that YOU like, you are more inclined to do a better job.

8.  Develop discipline. Submitting galleries is an everyday process. Don't think you will get away with submitting 3 times a week (especially in the beginning) and think that your traffic will just automatically grow to record numbers and the sales just pile in one after the other. It's a daily commitment.

9.  Use and/or invest in fresh, high quality content. It'll pay for itself over and over again.

10.  Don't use free hosting.

11.  Get to know the owners and reviewers. You can never have too many partner / preferred / trusted submitter accounts.

12.  If you use auto-submitters (we recommend TGP Wizards), ensure that you maintain your database and customize it to your needs. Too many people stick with a default database and just accept the good traffic they receive. You will get even better traffic if you take the time to build the database custom to your niche(s) you are promoting.
